July 12, 2006 - FORT MYERS, FL (July 12, 2006) - The Fort Myers Miracle sent All-Star catcher Kyle Geiger to Double-A New Britain, but received All-Star catcher Caleb Moore from Single-A Beloit on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old Geiger was hitting .248-1-21 in 61 games this season. In 226 at bats he roped 10 doubles, third most on the team, with a .299 on base percentage and a .305 slugging percentage. He started 26 games behind the plate and threw out 24.0% of base stealers. Along with the games at catcher he started 17games at first and even played one game at third. Geiger was a 42nd round pick by the Twins in 2002 out of Rend Lake (IL) Junior College. He was a non-roster invitee to spring training this past year.
The 23-year-old Moore is in his second season of professional baseball and was hitting .286-2-27 in 68 games. In 245 at bats he had 12 doubles and five triples, second most on the Snappers, with an on base percentage of .336 and a slugging percentage of .400. Moore caught 45 games and threw out 30% of would be base stealers. He was a fourth round pick of the Twins in 2005 out of East Tennessee State University and led the nation in hitting (.455) and doubles in 2004.
The Miracle roster sits at the maximum 25 players, 12 pitchers and 13 position players.
